The US Army has chosen ATX Defense as one of eight companies selected to take part in the Next-Gen Commercial Operations in the Defending Enclave (NCODE) program, an initiative focused on improving cybersecurity readiness across the defense industrial base.
Valued at up to $49 million over a five-year period, the NCODE program is designed to help defense suppliers meet the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) requirements. According to ATX Defense, achieving compliance with these standards is becoming increasingly important for contractors working within the defense sector.
Concerns about cybersecurity weaknesses throughout the defense supply chain have prompted the Pentagon to strengthen security requirements in recent years. As a result, many future defense contracts will require companies to demonstrate compliance with CMMC standards before they can compete for or maintain work involving sensitive government data.
Supporting Access to CMMC Certification
The initiative will operate through the NCODE Marketplace, a digital platform where approved providers offer cybersecurity and compliance solutions to defense contractors preparing for CMMC certification.
Through the program, ATX Defense will make its CMMC Space platform available to organizations seeking certification. The platform is designed to simplify the management of security controls, documentation, and compliance activities required throughout the certification process.
Built as a cloud-based solution, CMMC Space helps contractors navigate the requirements needed to achieve CMMC Level 2 certification, a key standard for organizations handling Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
“We created CMMC Space because small businesses need someone in their corner who actually understands the problem from their side,” said Shawn Kotoske, co-founder of ATX Defense.
The company stated that the platform, which operates on Google Cloud and Google Workspace infrastructure, has already helped more than 70 defense contractors successfully obtain CMMC Level 2 certification.
